I love the act of creating and painting with rich bright joyful colours. I am a graduate of OCAD, Ontario College of Art and Design University's 4 year Illustration and Design program. My previous careers include art direction, graphic design, and illustration. I apply the power and dynamics of graphic design and illustration techniques to my fine art painting compositions. I am especially attracted to the vividness and intensity achieved when using acrylic paints. I like the bounce of a new canvas and the sound of my first brush stroke.
That being said I also paint with watercolours which was my first favourite medium.
My latest series called 'How My Garden Grows' delves into my love affair with flowers, partly based on fact but with a huge scoop of imagination tossed in. Using thick to thin acrylics to make the colours dance I want to bring joy and beauty to the viewer of my work.
Landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes are also a focus of my artwork.
I also teach painting workshops in watercolours and acrylics to local art groups in the Niagara Region. I so enjoy sharing what I have learned.
