I started painting in art classes in grade school and high school, followed by a bachelor's degree in Art at the University of Wisconsin. I have continued to learn with courses at the Etobicoke School of Arts and the Haliburton School of the Arts. In recent years I have been sharing my knowledge and experience through workshops with others. I have exhibited works in both solo and group shows in Toronto, Niagara on the Lake, and while wintering in Black Canyon City Arizona.
Having grown up in rural Wisconsin my works have always been inspired by nature and include scenes from across the US and Canada. I like to explore the colors created by the changing light of day. I work with acrylic on canvas and by utilizing the new mediums available I enjoy capturing those changes in both subtle and bold ways. I have a deep respect for nature so many of my recent paintings focus on creatures that are endangered by our lack of respect for the environment. These paintings include creatures like the tiny bog turtle, the California condor, the polar bear, etc. Although it is a cliché, I hope as you view my paintings, you will truly stop and smell the roses and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
