Chandi started painting in Ceylon at age six under the guidance of his father and mother, both of whom were artists. Over the next five decades, he continued his visual art studies in Sri Lanka, at the University of Guyana, at the Edna Manley College of Visual & Performing Arts in Jamaica, and in Canada. In 2010 and 2012 he successfully completed the Fine Art and Painting certificate programs at the School of Design, George Brown College, Canada.
Between 1993 and 2023 Chandi has exhibited 463 paintings in 13 solo art exhibitions and 29 group exhibitions in four countries. His paintings have been selected by various enterprises including the esteemed Guyana's National Collection, the annual conference of the Canadian School of Management in 2002, as well as for a book cover in USA in 2006.
Artworks exhibited, range from landscape to figurative, abstract to realistic in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. Places lived, worked, and painted in, include Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean and North America. His travels to 100 countries have informed and broadened his artwork.
Chandi conceptualized, established, and curated, the Pegasus Art Gallery in Guyana in 1995. As a Leadership Coach, Chandi has led over a dozen 'Team building through Art' sessions for his organizational clients. He is also an author and poet. He published 45 of his paintings and 55 of his poems in his 22nd book titled 'Emotions' in 2022.
