Members - Beverley Anne Seddon

Beverley is a born and raised native of St. Catharines, and has lived here most of her life.

She has always had a high interest in the arts, which has led to volunteering for other organizations, where she has used her artistic talents. She has also had a keen interest in photography, following in her fathers footsteps. Her love of travel, like her parents has also contributed to expressing her love of painting. She has used some of her own photographs and turned them into works of art.

In her grade school years, her parents encouraged her with the help of private oil painting lessons, and also going to a course called Saturday Morning Art classes for about 2 years. This was done by the Board of Education through the summer months. Students were able to experience different mediums, and work on a piece for about 3 classes they'd chosen to try.

Beverley also credits her 2 public school art teachers, Elsie Weins and Ann Carruthers in furthering her guidance. Also over the years, she attended some art night courses such as doing watercolours.

Beverley has also done art works in pen and ink, ,oils, and eventually acrylics.

While a member with the SCAA, Beverley would attend many of the demonstrations that were held to observe other artists works.

To this day, Beverley still works in acrylics, but will try other projects when requested.

While travelling, Beverley will often carry a small sketch pad so she can do live sketches, but also for the enjoyment from it.

The 3 paintings currently in the Square Foot Exhibition are an example of her combined art with photography. They are a series that Beverley did showing different areas of her visit to Nova Scotia in 2023.
