Sue McCabe is a watercolour artist living in St. Catharines. She has been drawing and painting since the age of 8. She took her first formal art lessons in oils at the age of 19 from Joan Thiessen. Sue studied with her for five years. She won a first and an honourable mention at local shows during this period. Sue then switched to watercolour, taking interest courses at Niagara College and Dundas Valley School of Art. Sue also has an Honours B.A. in Classics from Brock University. She was a docent at the Art Gallery of Hamilton for three years. She then spent time raising a family, volunteering as a church and school librarian for over twenty years. Sue also pursued other crafts such as cross-stitch, card crafting and jewellery making. She returned to watercolour painting a few years ago and has taken courses with Ed Telenko and Beverly Sneath. She is currently a member of the St. Catharines Art Association and the Parkway Artists Guild. She loves to paint the flowers, birds and landscapes of the Niagara Peninsula.
