Members - Megan Arndt

Megan Arndt's painting practice is rooted in intuition and process. While her work often begins with a clear idea, the final result rarely unfolds as planned. She builds her paintings in layers, allowing each stage to guide the next. Moments of change, uncertainty, and disruption are all part of the process, and through patience and trust, new and unexpected outcomes emerge. In many ways, art is like life that way, unpredictable, imperfect, and never really finished.

Colour plays a central role, with a strong draw toward vibrant or expressive palettes. Initially inspired by real-life glimmers of colour spotted in nature or unexpected sparks of inspiration in everyday life. Texture is equally important, embracing visible brushstrokes, layered surfaces, and areas that remain unresolved. Rather than hiding the evidence of the process, the brushstrokes, layers, imperfections, intentionally remain visible in the finished work, which can sometimes be difficult to capture on still photographs.

Based in the Niagara region, Megan has been painting as a passion for over ten years. Outside of painting, she teaches yoga and writes, both creative practices that, much like her painting, encourage curiosity, observation, and an openness to what unfolds.
