Teresa Gillis

Teresa Gillis - Artist
Born and raised in St. Catharines she started painting at the age of 12 when her mother (Joyce Pearce, also a member) taught weekly oil painting classes. Teresa benefited from the left over oil paints left by the ladies in the class, and painted when she got home from school. This was when she realized that this was going to be a lifelong aspiration.
After receiving her Certified Management Accountant designation there were many years working as a Controller that did not allow her to nurture her creative side very much, it wasn’t until she retired in 2010 that she has been seriously painting.
She paints on a regular basis now with her mother, brother and her sister sometimes, who lives in New Brunswick. She has painted numerous commissions for pet portraits, the Toronto skyline and a triptych of the St. Charles Bridge in Prague. In order to further satisfy the penned up creativity from all those years as an accountant, she also has a jewellery design business with her sister, TeeCares Designs.
Retirement definitely agrees with her. The numerous trips she has taken with her husband Paul have provided subject matter to paint for many years to come.
