May Meeting, 2019

PRESENTATION AND DEMONSTRATION by Lynette Fast

Open Your Ears to See; Open Your Eyes to Hear

Dr. Lynette Fast is a practising artist and former teacher and Associate Professor of Art Education (Brock University). She is delighted to return as presenter to a SCAA meeting.

Her brief introduction this time will be about seeing artworks as sound scapes—how visual artists and viewers produce and process information through their senses. (It will be quite alright if you wear a loud tie to this presentation!) One or two of her expressionist paintings will be used to illustrate.

A demonstration of favourite acrylic painting techniques on Yupo and Strathmore papers will follow. And, as time permits, Lynette will overview some additional experimental materials that can help a painting speak boldly and clearly, tap out a lively jig, or be a Spanish dancer.

Also, bring in your paintings for this month's ART CHALLENGE:

"ADD IN A NEW MEDIUM"

Treat us to your creations that you have made by adding in a medium you don't normally use. Be sure to bring along the title and medium on a slip of paper.

Members Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month, 6:30 to 9:30 pm from September through June (except December and January) at:

The First Grantham United Church, 415 Linwell Rd., St. Catharines.

Enjoy meeting with fellow members over coffee, tea, and sweet treats.
